What we are known for
Historic replication, to the original profile.
A great deal of our work sits in historic districts, where a replacement has to match a profile that has not been manufactured for a century.
A catalogue window will not pass.
Arched and segmental heads, transoms and fanlights, true divided lites, original masonry openings, wavy glass. These are the details a review board looks for, and the ones a standard replacement gets wrong.
- Districts commonly require simulated or true divided lites, and forbid grilles sealed between the glass.
- Some forbid vinyl, and some forbid insert installation entirely.
- Requirements often differ between elevations visible from the street and those that are not.
We would rather look at the house than guess, which is why historic work is never given an automatic figure.

Recent historic work
A few of the last hundred years.
Much of this arrives by referral from architects and review boards, which is the part of the business we are most careful with.
Original openings
Masonry openings that were never square, matched rather than forced.
Steel and iron
French Steel and Clark Hall, for the narrow sightlines period work wants.
Doors to match
Replicated entry doors where the original is beyond repair.
